Overview

Kreja was born to Bozja's underclass. Her destitute family cut her loose at an early age, leaving her to struggle alone as little more than a thief. Necessity demanded she become a skilled one.Thieves live and die on their luck and intuition. Nothing improves their chances like the ability to bend fate itself. Kreja was once hired to steal a Sharlayan Astrologian's soul crystal; easily her most difficult job ever. She kept it instead. In the quiet solitude of star-filled nights, she gleaned much from its whispers. It made her a better thief, but also offered new potentiality and a far different future.After Bozja's liberation, she traveled to Eorzea with the intent to launder her knowledge of Astromancy by studying at Ishgard's Athenaeum Astrologicum. Kreja hoped for more stability, but largely found more complications. She had little coin, many secrets, and a deadly addiction gained during a backslide in Ul'dah.She's never known real safety, and has been unable to trust nearly anyone. Soft spoken and skittish, it's not hard to tell she's suffered immensely during her life. Yet, somehow, it hasn't killed her heart.

Description

Physical

Grey fur, grey eyes, relatively small.

Kreja is short for a hrothgar, with grey fur and an atypically slim frame. While lithe, she lacks the muscle of most of her people and it isn't difficult to tell her life has been hard. The variety of thin scars over her body make that yet clearer. The faint smile she wears doesn’t always touch her grey eyes, which are often evasive. But for people suffering, their gaze is warm with genuine care.She typically dresses in colors reminiscent of the night sky. Her outfits nearly always have space to hide objects and often fully cover any scars. Her glasses are worn to further soften her appearance as much as for her mildly impaired vision.

Personality

Quiet, skittish, mistrustful, compassionate.

Kreja is downtrodden. It’s hard to miss and she simply cannot hide it. She is melancholic and expects to be treated poorly. After all, that’s the only way she was ever treated for most of her life. It's made her skittish and she has a difficult time trusting others. Her trust has been violated too many times.She’s quiet and seems unable to speak much above a whisper. She’s quiet in other ways, too. Kreja often passes through places unseen and unheard purely out of habit. For that same reason, and to challenge herself, she often hides objects on her person.Despite everything, Kreja typically shows little inclination toward anger or violence. If anything, she comes across as a fairly gentle soul—at least, if you ignore that she’s hiding a knife on her somewhere.

Hooks

A thief and former criminal

Kreja never decided she wanted to be a thief. She never had the luxury of agency. If she wanted to live, she needed food, shelter, and coin. Destitute, alone, and scorned, she had few alternatives. She's done what she's needed to survive, but that life has been hard to escape. Now, she does her best to avoid her past and use her skills for good ends. Still, criminals from southern Ilsabard, and even Ul'dah, may find her familiar.

Holding a stolen soul crystal

While Evariste Desrosiers never knew her name, he did catch sight of Kreja as she made off with his soul crystal. Ever since, eager members of Sharlayan's once dominate Bibliothec faction have sought to find her. Currently, Desrosiers has opened a bounty for an Astrologian matching her description. It even notes she frequents Ishgard. Despite Sharlayan opening its borders, she refuses to visit out of fear she'd be identified.

Student of astromancy

After arriving in Ishgard, she secured an opportunity to study Sharlayan Astromancy at the Athenaeum Astrologicum. She's had to walk a careful balance to appear as a capable student without giving away her stolen soul crystal. Privately, the instructors are aware she knows far more than she lets on, but assumes she was instructed by a Sharlayan who violated the nation state's prior policy.

Withering from addiction

Aside from the occasional partisan, Kreja has worked for cruel people. Many coerced her, exploited her, brutalized her, and even betrayed her. The last time she was entangled with criminals, during her short time in Ul'dah, she was baited into a somnus addiction. It kept her on a tight leash. Now it's slowly killing her. The worst part is, much like with her alcohol abuse, deep down she likes the fleeting relief.

There for those who suffer

Life can be brutal and Kreja's seen that first hand. A lot. She struggles with casual conversation, often appears timid, and adamantly refuses to open up for others. Still, she always has an ear for hurt people, and will do what she can to help, even if it is just listening. Maybe she stole what power she has, but she willfully accepts responsibility to help others avoid the pain she's experienced in her life.

I'm Qrreia, an internet lioness, and a hobbyist writer and worldbuilder with a sci-fi focus. I've roleplayed since the early 2000s in forums, chats, TTRPGs, MU*s, and MMOs. I started FFXIV in 2017, but earnestly in late 2018. I've spent a lot of time on a lot of classes, but I inevitably always return to Astrologian. I'm also fond of monk, gunbreaker, and bard.

Roleplay style

I'm largely a paragraph roleplayer, but my posts vary in length. Sometimes what I want to convey takes up to a few paragraphs, sometimes it takes a single word of dialogue.

Content flags

This character touches on topics of systemic oppression, isolation, trauma, bigotry, colonialism, and substance abuse. These themes are explored through the lens of healing and moving forward. Their effects on Kreja are impossible to ignore as her entire personality is built from them, but I try to take extra care with them in public scenes. There, she should come across more as an adorable, if hurt, cinnamon roll, with the darker elements more recessed.

Real-world politics

I'm trans, a lesbian, an abuse survivor, and openly subscribe to anarchist political theory. I hold strong views against fascism, authoritarianism, imperialism, colonialism, capitalism, racism, misogyny, queer-bigotry, "natural" hierarchies, generative AI, and genocide. I've no interest in "apolitical" spaces and people. They protect the status quo, harming folks like myself and others. So, ACAB, Free Palestine, Trans Rights, and all. These inform my RP and who I’ll hang around here.

Romance and adult themes

I've also had some bad experiences with RP relationships, so this is probably not on the table. Adult themes, in general, are maybe possible, but they need to be story and character driven and I need to know and trust the other person a lot. Consent and mutual understanding is always required. Also, 18+ only for, I hope, obvious reasons.

Lore

I prefer close lore adherence. Things that fit known lore and the setting's themes are also fine.
